Rosehill Christian Football
Information and Expectations
Team Verse:I Corinthians 9:24-25
24 Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. 25 Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but we a crown that will never fade away.
Unity Council
The Unity Council is a representative group that is elected by grade level by the players in that grade level. They meet with Coach Lane once a week (Monday after practice) and as needed to discuss issues within the team and give the kids a voice.
Seniors:
Chris Godin, Paxton Martin
Juniors:
Blake Williams
Sophomores:
Matthew Carroll
Freshmen:
Christian Combest
Practices:
All Players are expected to attend and participate in ALL practices (even if injured and dress in the team uniform that is applicable for their injury). We do practice on School Holidays, but not on Saturdays. In the event one of the players will be absent, he or the parents should contact Coach Lane prior to that practice. (706) 414-5796, [email protected]
Time:
See Calendar for Pre-Season times. Regular Season times will be pretty consistent at 3:15-5:45. Those are the times we are actually on the field, player’s actual departure times may vary due to treatment or responsibilities. At NO time should a player be past 6:15 PM leaving school. ( Wednesday Practice will conclude by 5:30)
Excused: Death in Family, or sickness, Pre-arranged with Coach Lane. (Pre-arranged does not necessarily mean the absence is excused) (No Unity Point accessed)
Unexcused:
Our team uses a merit/demerit system for handling issues that may arrive during the season. 3 Unity Points will be accessed to the player and they must meet with the Unity Council.
Games:
All players are expected to attend all games. (See Practice for absence policy)
Home Games:
Players will remain at school for home games. A pre-game meal will be served at 3 PM. Players will then be able to rest in designated areas in the ATC. All-Players will be allowed to Hydrate and have a pre-game snack during that time.
Away Games:
Players will ride school provided transportation to and from the games. Occasionally when we play out of town families may elect to remain overnight. Prior notification should be given in writing (not email, text, or phone) with a parent’s signature by Tuesday morning the week of the game. I would hope these would be very limited as the team should be together to enjoy the full football experience. If a player is NOT returning home on the bus, they must find someone to unpack their equipment.
Post Game :
Following every game we invite all Parents, families, and fans to be part of our “Team Huddle” on or near mid-field. This is a time for each Coach to share with the team their thoughts about the game. We will also have a prayer and be dismissed. The players and families will be able to visit following the meeting. Typically following the game I leave the huddle and go do post game comments for the radio.
Communication:
Communication is very important and we will do our best to keep you updated via Email or Text. Mrs. McGee is serving as the Team Mom and you have already received several emails from her this summer.
If you have questions, please feel free to call, text, email, or set up an appointment. My best times to meet during the week are 8-10 AM or 1-2 PM.
Please understand they the coaches or I are NOT available on Friday night after the game to deal with issues other than injury updates.
A good rule of thumb is to give any situation 24 hours before meeting. Saturday is a HUGE workday/family day for our coaches. Sunday we will be available at 3 PM if we need to meet. Please send a text or email on Saturday so we can plan for the meeting. The only topics that are not open to discussion is another parents son.
Matthew 18 Principle for solving problems
In Matthew 18:15-17 Jesus gives His formula for solving person-to-person problems:
"Moreover, if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between him and you alone. If he hears thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word may be established. And if he neglect to hear thee, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican."
